The first hole is named "Palo Verde", a nod to the iconic Palo Verde trees that are native to the Sonoran Desert surrounding the course. These trees -- recognized for their green bark and bright yellow spring blooms -- are a signature feature of the Arizona landscape and are prominently featured along the hole's fairway and tee areas.

A tee shot to the right gives the best angel of approach on this par 4 - opener. Watch the swale in front of and along the right of the green.
